In 2024, TCNY launched our Mentorship Program
Due to the extreme success and satisfaction for both mentors and mentees, we will be continuing this program. Our Mentorship Program aims to connect experienced professionals with college students who are pursuing studies in transportation and logistics at 3 local universities that have transportation related majors and we will also be working with an organization that supports our Veterans called Troops2Logistics. The primary mission of this program is to provide guidance, insights, and support to these young talents as they embark on their journey into the industry. The opportunity to be a mentor is only open to members of TCNY.
Commitment and Structure: We understand that your time is valuable, which is why our mentorship program is designed to be a small but impactful effort. As a mentor, your commitment will involve just one 30-60 minute call with your assigned mentee. This call can take place at a mutually convenient time. If you develop a connection with your mentee and you mutually see value in meeting again, you may schedule a follow-up call.
Why Should You Participate? Participating in our Mentorship Program is not only a valuable way to give back to the industry but also an incredibly rewarding experience for you. By sharing your knowledge, experiences, and insights, you can make a meaningful difference in a student’s life while helping them gain a better understanding of the transportation and logistics field.
How to Get Involved: If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please reach out to Kathy Rizzotti at kathy@tcny.org If interested, keep an eye out for emails related to the program. We will be looking for mentors between October 1st and November 30th. If selected, we will match you with a mentee based on your background and expertise. Once paired, you and your mentee can arrange a suitable time for your mentorship call. We anticipate this call to be sometime in February.
Key Details:
• Commitment: One 30-60 minute call with your mentee.
• Target Mentees: College students and US Veterans studying transportation/logistics.
• Goal: Help students understand the industry and support their career development.
We believe that your guidance from our esteemed membership can play a significant role in shaping the future of these aspiring professionals, and we hope you’ll consider joining our Mentorship Program. Together, we can make a positive impact on the next generation of transportation and logistics experts.
